Wardrobe essentials for the Bank Holiday

The Spring Bank Holiday is nearly upon us; an opportunity to take a break from work, perhaps declutter those overlooked parts of the house, or maybe you are planning a trip away?

When I travel, I try to be clever with my packing so that I only have one piece of hand-luggage. Years of packing too much and realising I only ever wore half of what I took with me has trained me to create a capsule-wardrobe approach. Here are some images of some typical items I would take with me for a short-break:

My travel attire

Classic and comfortable, my navy 7/8 trousers are smart and versatile for travelling. I team this with a Breton-stripe tee and a pair of flats. You can’t go wrong. A light-coloured leather jacket lifts the outfit and offers the opportunity to be worn with a dress and heels for the evening. The Dara holdall ensures your luggage too has that chic-appeal, while the pure cotton Madalsa laundry bags keep shoes and underwear separate and organised.

A classic daytime outfit

I don’t like my plans to be set-in-stone when I’m on holiday – I like the freedom to explore and therefore I need an outfit that will work in any situation: strolling in a city, drinks at the harbour, browsing through the shops or an excursion to take in some local culture.

A sleeveless, round-neck top in crisp white paired with my navy, ankle-length trousers and a pair of strappy sandals ticks this box. I keep my accessories simple - a pendant necklace, a pair of timeless sunglasses and a simple Alia clutch bag, which comes with a handy coin-purse.

By the water's edge

As with many of my favourite looks, I prefer to keep my swimwear simple and add interest with my accessories. If I’m relaxing by the pool or on the beach, I opt for a black swimsuit, sunglasses and an oversized sunhat to protect my skin from the sun. The Kiren beach bag is an extremely generous size – large enough for all my essentials – yet light enough to roll up in my travel luggage. Our Kiren beach bags now come in four different colour-ways, each with a matching trio of Ronnie washbags, so you can be effortlessly organised wherever you are.
